Egy kis jóság tőlünk

The population of the village is 450, most of them are Gipsies. In 2010 there were hardly any families where there was not at least one person involved in public works who took part in laying the basis of the ‘Cserdi miracle’.

We had no money. The men rebuilt the dismantled foil tunnels in the Great Plain, with great effort. Breaking the land which had been fallow for many years was an even more challenging task. Growing good quality, chemical free vegetables is not only lots of hard work, but it also requires knowledge we had to acquire. We did everything by ourselves, from building foil tunnels to selling at farmers’ markets. In winter we learned, joined theoretical courses, while from spring to autumn we did our best in the foil tunnels and the fields. It turned out that there were natural talents among us who won The People’s Choice Award of ‘The Best Vendor of the Farmers’ Market in Pécs’. The quality of our self-grown vegetables has changed our families’ quality of life: not only are we able to put healthy and tasty food on the table, but we have a secure source of income and means of subsistence too. We have gained recognition, which makes us terribly proud of our achievements.
